A little story about the craziest day of our lives.

Are you ready for a crazy story?
(Warning: this post contains some "personal details" about me. If you don't care to read them, then just skip to the end of this post and I'm sure you can figure the whole story out without the gory details.)

Almost 2 weeks ago I made an appointment to go to the doctor to treat what I thought was a bladder infection. I thought I had nailed all of my symptoms and it was going to be a quick appointment. Get in there, get some pee drugs, and get out. Easy right? Not even close...

After an hour of filling out what felt like a million health history forms and waiting another 20 minutes I was escorted to a bathroom to leave a "sample" and then taken back to a room to wait. I had never met the doctor before and was pleasantly surprised when very nice looking woman came in and greeted me. (As a woman, it is always a little more comfortable to have a female doctor when you have personal issues to take care of!)  After she introduced herself she asked me to describe my symptoms... I started rattling off my symptoms and was just waiting for her to confirm my own diagnosis until she stopped me mid-sentence and said:
"Stop right there. You're pregnant."

WHAT!?!?!?!

I was speechless. I was positive that she had to be wrong!

After she reassured me that they tested my urine and I was most definitely pregnant, I started to cry. I was so overwhelmed thinking about my 9 month old son at home and my husband who had just started medical school. I had no idea how it had happened. I am a religious birth control taker... why didn't the pills work? I want a refund!!!! As soon as I calmed down enough to talk, I called Logan.

Me: (crying) Logan, you have to come meet me at the doctor office. NOW!"
Logan: What's wrong?? Is everything ok?
Me: (still crying) Just come down here.
Logan: Is it cancer???
Me: (bawling now) No. Not even close! I'm Pregnant!!!!
Logan: *Silence*
Me: Logan??
Logan: I'll be there in 5 minutes.... *click*

While I waited for Logan, the nurse drew my blood and then called next door to the Radiology and Ultrasound clinic to get me in for an emergency ultrasound to check the baby. The doctor wanted to check the baby right away because I had been taking birth control, dieting, and definitely not taking any prenatal vitamins due to the fact that I had NO idea that I was prego.

Logan showed up a few minutes later and we sat in the waiting room in silence as we waited to be called back to get our ultrasound. We were thinking that I had to be only a few weeks pregnant because I wasn't showing at all and I had not been feeling anything close to morning sickness. Waiting to be called back felt like an eternity.

After waiting about 40 minutes, we go back to a dark little room. I pulled my shirt up enough to expose my belly, and the ultrasound tech squeezed a big glob of goo onto my belly, and the craziness began.

If you have ever been pregnant before, or seen what a baby looks like at the first ultrasound, you know that it looks kind of like a jelly bean and has very little definition. The image we saw was not of a cute little jelly bean swimming around in my stomach. It was an image of a fully formed, almost 18 week old fetus! Ten fingers, ten toes, the whole shebang!!!! We were blown away! Impossible!! I wasn't even showing!!! Someone had to be playing a prank on us! This would make Beckham and his new little sibling only 14 and 1/2 months apart!
I can't do this!!!!!

The ultrasound tech probably thought we were the weirdest couple ever because we were almost completely silent and had blank/stunned looks on our faces. At least until she said... "Would you like to know the gender?"  I was blown away yet again that not only did I just find out that I was pregnant an hour ago but now I get to know the sex?! This day could not get any crazier! Seconds later she uttered three words that almost made it all better.

"It's a girl!"

Logan and I both teared up and couldn't believe our eyes. It was a beautiful and healthy baby girl!

The rest of the day was a blur... We were in shock and didn't have much to say. We were terrified, shocked, scared, and a little excited. But mostly terrified. How were we going to raise such young babies? Holy crap.

Every day since, we have gotten more comfortable with the idea. We feel like this baby girl is definitely supposed to be here for some reason because we took all the precautions we could to not get pregnant. Heavenly Father has a plan for us that is a lot different than the plan we had in mind for ourselves. We are just trusting in our Heavenly Father that we will be able to handle this change of plans and continue to be the best parents we can be to Beckham and his new little sister.

Here is a picture of me taken today at 19 weeks and 2 days pregnant. I'm starting to get a little bit of a belly that definitely wasn't there 2 weeks ago!
The official due date of this baby girl is February 4th, 2012!

Logan and I would love to hear ANY advise you have on raising 2 children. Words of encouragement are greatly appreciated as well... we will take anything we can get! Oh, and we need some help thinking of a name too!! We don't have any name ideas yet! Help!

Welcome to the family baby girl! We love you like crazy and are so excited to meet you!

Lucky.

Today I am a busy lady.

It is 3:00pm and I still need to:
-get ready
-finish the laundry
-do the dishes
-clean the kitchen
-get some chicken defrosted for dinner
-dust

I haven't been lazy all morning and afternoon, I have just been enjoying my time playing with Beckham.
No matter how much I have to do around the house or how many days I don't have any time to take a shower, it is all worth it for my little Beck.

I am SO lucky to be a stay at home mom!

I really enjoyed my job in Idaho as a dental assistant, but nothing compares to my new job. I get to be a loving wife and mother and devote all my time to the two most important people in my life, Logan and Beckham. I had no idea that I would ever be so blessed!

Growing up too fast!

My little Beckham is growing up way too fast! On Sunday he accomplished another milestone that he has been working on for quite a while now.
CRAWLING!
I am pretty sure that he has been capable of crawling for a while now, but he has just been taking his time showing off. For our family and friends who are far away here is a quick video so you can see Beck's new skills!

(Isn't he cute? Please ignore our voices in the backround... we sound like a couple of crazies!)

Welcome to the family!

On Thursday August 11th this handsome little devil became a part of the Cooper Clan.
Welcome
Asher Keith Cooper!
Good job Andy and Megan. You really do know how to make cute babies!

Go Diamondbacks!

We made the long journey to Phoenix and finally made it here on July 22nd. After 2 days of being in the car we were all ready to get out and have some fun! We were lucky enough to have Logan's dad, his brother Dylan and his wife Annie help us move down here from Idaho, and we never could have done it without them (they were lifesavers!). Logan's dad got tickets for all of us (including Logans other brother Andy and his wife Megan and their little boy Makoy who live here in Phoenix) to the Diamonbacks game. It was a really fun night and it was even better getting to see the D-backs beat the Rockies. We sure love our family and every thing they have done for us to help make this move successful. Here are a couple pictures from the game.

We made it!

We finally made the big move to sunny Arizona and we are loving it! It is SUPER hot and humid because of monsoon season but we don't mind. We just got internet today and we have been going non-stop since we got here so as soon as I have a little down time I will be posting a nice big update for all of my friends and family! Adios for now!

4th of July... a few weeks late!

I'm a little behind with updating this blog but I thought I would show you how cute the one and only picture I took on the 4th is! We all had a great time on the 4th this year and it is always our favorite holiday. Logan, Beckham, and I spent lots of time with family, ate lots of food, and then watched the awesome fireworks down by the river. Beckham LOVED the fireworks and didn't peel his little eyes off of the bright colors the whole time. We were worried that the loud booms would bother him but it didn't phase him one bit!

On a different note, we are moving to Phoenix exactly one week from tomorrow! BAH! It feels like it has just snuck up on us and I have no idea where the last few months have gone. We are sad to leave family and be so far away but we are so excited to start this new adventure! Wish us luck... we have a lot of packing to do and a long drive ahead of us before we get to settle in and melt in the 120 degree heat.

7 months

This post is a little overdue but on June 23rd my little baby boy turned 7 months old! I can't believe he has been here that long already. Seven months of being pregnant definitely felt like it took a lot longer than the last seven months of Beckham's life. Logan and I took Beckham to his 6 month check-up appointment in May and here are his stats.
Height: 27 1/4" (70th percentile)
Weight: 18lbs. 13oz. (75th percentile)
Head: (97th percentile)

The nurse didn't tell us the exact measurement of Beckham's head but all we know is that it is HUGE! I think that people think Beckham is much bigger than he actually is because his head is so dang big.

Here are a few things we love about Beckham James Cooper:
  • He loves to eat
  • He has the chubbiest cheeks ever and I can't help but kiss them whenever I can
  • He can sit up all by himself
  • He babbles to everyone whether they listen or not
  • He is an awesome sleeper. He has slept through the night since he was just a few weeks old. (Yes, I know how lucky I am!)
  • He has a goofy personality and always thinks he is pretty funny
  • He got his first tooth on Saturday June 25th
  • Bath time is his favorite time of the day
  • His laugh is the best sound in the world
  • He loves to jump/bounce
  • He loves to roll around on the floor
  • He is happier naked... seriously
  • He can click his tongue
I know I might be a bit biased but Logan and I both think that we have the best baby ever. We are so lucky to have him in our lives and he makes everyday special. I can't wait until he wakes up everyday so I can see his smile. I love being and mom and I wouldn't trade it for anything!

(Sorry that I don't have any pictures for this post... I am using Logan's new computer and I don't have any pictures downloaded on it yet! Just picture the chubbiest, cutest, funniest baby you can think of and that is Beckham!)

Sticky mess!

Today Beckham got to try his first sucker! He LOVED it and slobbered everywhere!

By the time we took it away Beckham was a sticky, slobbery mess and I couldn't get him into the bath fast enough.
He even had a purple tongue!

I think it will be quite a while until I let Beck have another sucker but it was fun while it lasted!
Ain't he cute?

In case you haven't heard...

We are moving!
This isn't super new information or anything but Logan and I are happy to officially say that we will be moving to Phoenix, Arizona in July! Logan has been accepted to attend medical school at Midwestern University in the fall and we are so excited. This is the beginning of a long road for our family but the reward in the end will be worth waiting for.
I am excited to move away and live our lives away from Idaho for a few years but I am also really nervous too! I  am going to miss all of the help I get from family when it comes to taking care of Beckham and getting to hang out with them whenever I want. I haven't been more than 10 minutes away from my family for a very long time and it is going to be hard for me to handle when we are 14 hours away instead of 10 minutes. I'm sure I will adjust quickly though!
We are going to be buying a house down in Arizona and we are just waiting for the bank to accept our offer which should be any day now! I can't tell you how excited I am to have a place of our own because I LOATHE RENTING! It drives me nuts that I pay a bunch of money every month to help some other guy pay his mortgage. I am happy that soon all that money will be going to pay for OUR mortgage, not our landlord's. If we get this house we are going to need to replace the carpet in every room, does anyone know where the best place to buy carpet for cheap in Phoenix is? I also need to know where the best place to buy new appliances would be... or any great restaurants we need to try while we are down there... or fun places to hang out and enjoy the warm weather while my family is freezing their butts off in Idaho? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

At least someone thinks I'm funny!

Beckham has turned into quite the giggler lately. I am loving it because no matter what I do, he thinks that I am pretty dang funny! Oooh, I love him so much!
Enjoy!

Wii have another problem.

Beckham and Logan wouldn't be boys if they didn't love to play video games! It doesn't matter what game, Beck just loves to sit on Logan's lap and play the Wii. I think its time to break my 6 month old of his Wii habit, and while I'm at it maybe I can help my husband kick the habit too! Wish me luck!

Farewell!

This week we said farewell to our great friends Jordan and Rachel and their adorable baby girl Hadley. They are moving to Texas for the summer and won't be back before we move to Phoenix in July. The next time we will see them probably won't be until Christmas.

Here is a picture of Jordan and Logan with Hadley and Beckham. Jordan and Logan have been best friends since they were young and it is crazy to see them both with kids of their own!

Good luck in Texas Jordan and Rach!
We miss you already!

My new favorite holiday

Mother's Day!
My new favorite holiday is Mother's day. This year was the first time that I was able to celebrate as a legit "Mother" and I have to say that I couldn't have had a better day! I will spare you every little detail of my day but I will say that I am the luckiest mom and wife alive!
Logan and Beckham surprised me with a fancy new pair of these...
I have been begging Logan for some new work/ZUMBA shoes for a while now and I finally got my wish! I was also even more spoiled with some other very generous gifts like new shorts, some perfume, and a massage gift card! Whoo!
But the best part of my day was spending time with these two goodlookin' guys!
Being a mom and a wife is THE BEST! My life is better than I ever
imagined and I wouldn't change a thing!
I am a lucky lady!

Uhh... Guys? Help!

A few weeks ago Beckham woke up for the morning and Logan put him in his swing to hang out while Mom and Dad got a few more minutes of shut eye. A little while later Beckham started to grunt and squawk at us and we got out of bed to see what was the matter...
Little Beckster who was still all wrapped up in his swaddle had slid out of the bottom of his swing and was just sitting there waiting for us to come to his rescue!
(Ignore my shoes, a sack, and comforter on the floor... My bedroom really isn't as messy as it looks in this picture!)

"Uhhh... Mom? Dad? I need a little help here!"

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

Last week Logan was having fun with Beckham by walking around the house with little Beck on his shoulders. I thought it was so cute seeing Logan with his little boy on his shoulders until we had a little mishap...

SPIT-UP EXPLOSION!!!!
Beck barfed all over the top of Logan's head and it made its way all the way down to Logan's socks. It was a huge mess!! We couldn't stop laughing and I'm so glad we caught it all on camera!

We have a problem.

Little Beckster LOVES watching TV! I'm pretty sure he just likes watching all of the bright colors but still.... It's not good for a 3 1/2 month old baby to like TV so much. Logan and I are trying to make sure we don't let him fry his tiny brains with television but whenever there is a TV in the room Beck finds it! He is such a little stinker! I thought this picture was funny and had to share our little problem. Wish me luck.. this week I am going to break my little TV addict of his habit!

Some encouragement

Lately my life has consisted of 5 things: working, being a mom, eating, working out, and sleeping. I barely have 5 minutes for anything else but I have to say that I like it that way! It really makes the time fly until we move. The main reason for my post today is to tell you all about one of the most wonderful things I have discovered in the last few months... Are you ready for it?... Here it is....

Many of you know what it is like to experience the "post-baby mommy body". I have hated lugging around the extra pounds and I really hated not fitting into my clothes. So after some encouragement from my mom I joined Weight Watchers with her at the end of January. I am happy to report to you all that I have lost almost ALL of my pesky baby weight and it was sooooooo EASY! I have tried diets before and nothing really worked until Weight Watchers! If any of you are having a hard time getting rid of the baby-flub and hate dieting give WW a try. I promise you won't be disappointed!

Beck's Blessing Day Jan. 2, 2011

I am way overdue with my posting... and I think that might even be a bit of an understatement! So here I am catching up on events that happened months ago. So my first post of many is of Beckham's blessing day!
We woke up bright and early on Sunday January 2nd to get to church on time, but one thing I have learned from being a first time mom is that we can never get out of the house on time! So we walked in to church 20 seconds before the opening hymn and the whole chapel was filled with our family and friends. Logan gave Beckham the most beautiful blessing and I was so proud of them both. After sacrament meeting we had a little lunch party to celebrate little Beckham's big day. It was so great spending time with family and friends and getting to show off our super handsome little boy! Here are a few pictures of the big day...

Beck was really tired when we got home. It was a pretty big day for such a little guy!

Shots

Today Beckham had his 2 month shots. I was really nervous that little Beckster was going to freak out but he was a champ! He cried for about 15 seconds and then he was happy as a clam again. I was freaking out for no reason! I have such a good baby!

Here is a picture of Beck's little war wounds!

Here are Beckham's 2 month stats:
Height: 23 1/4 inches (57th percentile)
Weight: 10lbs. 3oz. (13th percentile)

As you can see, Beckham is pretty low in the normal weight range so we have some major fattening up to do! The Doctor said we need to add a little formula to his breastmilk diet because apparently I make what he calls "skim milk". Oh well! I will do whatever I have to do to help him grow.
